Main Responsibilities
The Sales Engineer's main tasks revolve around sales.
Initially, he is responsible for identifying the company's new customers. To do this, they regularly collect email addresses and telephone numbers, which they list in a customer file. Once the contacts have been created, he can move on to prospecting. To build up his customer file and expand his network, he attends trade fairs and events. They also engage in virtual networking, using social networks to find potential customers. Finally, to promote themselves and their products, they organise product demonstration meetings.
The Sales Engineer's job is to develop new accounts. They prepare sales presentation materials, analyse customer requirements and draw up specifications. They are also responsible for responding to calls for tender and drafting sales proposals. Sales engineers who successfully meet and exceed their sales targets can look forward to salary bonuses.
The Sales Engineer is responsible for current contracts and, in collaboration with the in-house teams, ensures the production of the products/solutions requested. They also provide technical support, responding to customer queries and requests. They produce daily, monthly and/or annual activity reports to monitor activity and sales.
Finally, ongoing training is essential for Sales Engineers to keep abreast of the latest trends and technologies in their field.
